Personal Background

1993 to 1997 Electro Technical Officer then Engineering Officer first as 3rd Engineer then 2nd Engineer  on a large variety of ships, from 15,000 ton container ships to 300,000 ton crude oil tankers.

1997 to 1998 Working on both Semi-submersibles and mono hulled dynamically positioned diving  vessels engaged in subsea contruction in both Electrical Officer and Engineer positions.

 1998 to 2006

Field Service Engineer with  Brush Electrical Machines.

Commissioned around  3,000 Mw of power generation consisting mainly of LM6000 driven machines and TM2500’s

Assignments were worldwide and various including commissioning the main power generation on the Queen Mary 2 ( 2 LM2500 driven turbo alternators controlled by PRISMIC A30M Excitation controllers) .

One of my final projects with BEM was commisioning one of Brush Electrical Machines DCS and SCADA based Power management system (PMS) in Saudia Arabia. The PMS was located on a large LNG facility at Yanbu and controlled  a split 115Kv bus feeding two 115/13.8Kv On line tap changer transformers, each tap changer having two 13.8Kv secondaries. load control of 3 GE frame VI turbines (90Mw total) using MKVI millennium turbine control and the EX2000 excitation control. Management of all load shedding, synchronising to the grid, synchronising between buses (around 20 different permutations).
